Standard Chartered-Backed Zodia Custody Expands into Tokenized Emeralds

Zodia Custody, a crypto custodian supported by Standard Chartered and SBI Holdings, has partnered with Swiss fintech firm GEMx to safeguard tokenized emeralds. The collaboration introduces the EmGemX token, enabling institutional investors to gain fractional ownership in a diversified portfolio of high-quality emeralds.

The MOVE underscores the growing convergence of blockchain and traditional finance through real-world asset (RWA) tokenization. Emeralds, which have historically appreciated at an annual rate of 9%, will be stored in secure vaults and undergo regular independent appraisals.
